ASTM A276 Stainless Steel 410 430 Bar, UNS S41000 Bright Rod


The formation of martensite takes place on the rapid cooling of austenite, which was initially at a higher temperature. On rapid cooling, the microstructure of a martensitic alloy such as 410 Stainless Steel Round Bar looks like needles. As martensitic steel, this alloy undergoes heat treatment in order to become hardenable. The heat treatment used to harden the ASTM A276 Tp 410 Flat Bar is referred to as QT or quenching and tempering. It is because of the rapid cooling employed during quenching that makes it possible for the high temperature austenite to get converted to martensite. Two of the most vital characteristics of the alloy are that its hardness and toughness properties.

The ASTM A479 Type 410 Hex Bar also exhibits good corrosion resistance properties in combination with high strength. Unlike many austenitic stainless steel alloys, grade 410 Stainless Steel Rod is magnetic. Therefore this alloy could also be applied to those projects where magnetic behavior is required. The superior hardness, strength, and good toughness of the alloy are applied in the petroleum industry where the ASTM A276 Gr 410 Square Bar may be used in the refinery and in the various processing equipment in the petrochemical industry. The processing of sugar is another industry that benefits from the use of 410 Stainless Steel Bar Stock.
